I leave el Camino del norte tomorrow and Francine. We had such a great time visiting prehistoric caves, medieval churches, an ancient pilgrim fountain, and deserted beaches. It has been a hard journey physically but we have gotten stronger. Today for thee first time we actually passed two people on the Camino! Of course they looked pretty old and had heavy packs but we passed them!
We got to test the quality of our rain gear today... Not so good. We were pretty wet by the time we arrived in Ribadesella. We walked a mere 10 k today which took only four hours. I can't believe how slow we are. We spent the afternoon visiting a prehistoric cave and eating. So far my favorite food has been churros...deep fried dough dipped in thick hot chocolate. Our three course meals typically cost $10 which includes a bottle of wine. We pilgrims do sacrifice so much!

ReplyDeletePilgrims cannot live on wine and chocolate alone! Or can they?
ReplyDeleteThe waymark is very cool. You need one of these to point the way to your new office.
